About Me
I'm Lara, and for over twenty years
I've been shaping paper into forms inspired by nature
Paper came into my life long before Paperize
I've worked across film, set design and visual merchandising, learning that every material tells a story when approached with curiosity and worked with care.
From London to Milan, via film, theatre and visual merchandising
For over twenty years I lived and worked in London, freelancing on theatre and film productions.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Costume and Special Effects for Film and TV at the London College of Fashion, I began working in British studios in a range of creative roles, from styling on the sets of Batman and Harry Potter to creating miniature costumes for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.
My experience as a Senior Display Artist for luxury brands and events was another key stage in my career. Working in London visual merchandising studios, I helped create sets and installations for both the UK and European markets.
Then, one day, something unexpected happened.
From set design to botanical paper creations
One day, a friend asked me to create some paper accessories for her wedding. Almost by chance, that request became the first spark of what would later become Paperize. From that first project came increasingly ambitious and complex installations and creations. In 2019, I returned to Italy and chose Milan as the place to continue developing my work.
In 2023, I opened my studio in the heart of the Niguarda district, where old Milan, with its shared balconies and courtyards, meets a city in constant transformation, and where all my projects now take shape.
Paper may seem simple, but it offers endless possibilities
